The Five Cities Fire Authority:
Serving the Five Cities Communities since 2010
The Five Cities Fire Authority was created as a result of a complete fire department consolidation that took place in 2010. This consolidation was made possible through the collaboration of several cities in the region, including Arroyo Grande and Grover Beach, and later the Oceano Community Services District. The agreement initially started in 2004, where the cities agreed to share a fire chief and training officer, and expanded over the years to include shared equipment, a combined reserve firefighter program, and the implementation of "boundary drops" which ensured that the closest fire resource would be dispatched to a 9-1-1 call regardless of community boundaries.
The goal of this consolidation was to increase service levels to citizens and visitors, provide consistent and professional training standards, and improve operational efficiencies. This was achieved by bringing together the resources and expertise of several cities, allowing for a more coordinated and efficient response to emergencies. The Five Cities Fire Authority continues to serve the communities of the Five Cities with dedication and commitment, providing essential fire and emergency services to those in need.
