Our Initiatives
When our community is in need, the professional firefighters represented by Five Cities Firefighters IAFF Local 4403 strive to deliver what our neighbors deserve: excellence in public safety. But your firefighters are hampered because there aren’t enough firefighters on the street to keep you safe.
At any time, a maximum of only three firefighters are on each fire apparatus responding to calls throughout our area, lower than the four recommended by national standards and safety experts. By supporting four firefighters on our apparatus, you’re investing in the safety of our entire community. Support public safety and help your local firefighters push for four firefighters on the apparatus.
Learn moreLearn more about safe staffingYour politicians haven’t bargained in good faith with the firefighters who serve our community and have left us without a contract since July 1, 2022. Despite this, the firefighters represented by Five Cities Firefighters IAFF Local 4403 show up to the firehouse each day dedicated to keeping you safe. All the while, the department has seen a flat budget for the past three years through article three of the Joint Powers Agreement. This agreement has handcuffed our community’s ability to meet the basic needs of our neighbors as we combat the effects of inflation.
Support strong working conditions for your firefighters and urge your politicians to negotiate a contract and remove article three of the JPA to allow you to invest in public safety.
